Vredefort Dome: Just a half hour from Vaaloewer, you’ll find the Vredefort Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spanning over 200 kilometers in diameter, it was formed by the impact of a giant meteorite hundreds of millions of years ago. The Dome area is renowned for its unique beauty, offering valleys, mountains, and small ravines blanketed in lush green flora. It is believed that the last ripples from the meteorite’s impact are still visible here in Vaaloewer, which explains the hills and canyon formations in the area.
