Escape to Heaven on Vaal for a peaceful, pet-friendly, self-catering retreat by the Vaal River. Our accommodation offers the perfect getaway with breathtaking river views, ensuring a relaxing stay. Whether you’re fishing, enjoying a riverbank stroll, or simply unwinding, Heaven on Vaal provides the ideal environment to recharge.
Each unit includes:
- Microwave, kettle, toaster, large fridge, and a two-plate mini oven
- All cutlery, crockery, and bedding provided
- Please bring your own: swimming towels, milk, dishwashing liquid, dishcloths, toilet rolls, toiletries, charcoal, fire starters, food, sunblock (summer), umbrellas, gazebos, and gas lamps for night fishing (catch & release only)
- Bring your favorite blanket in winter. The days are warm but the nights are not.
The Thatch

Lavender

Fisherman’s Delight

Welcome to Fisherman’s Delight, a cozy one-bedroom haven designed for relaxation. This charming unit features its own en-suite bathroom with a luxurious shower, perfect for unwinding after a day on the water or fishing on the river bank. Unit closest to the river bank.
The open-plan kitchen and lounge area offer a comfy space to relax, complete with a nifty double sleeper couch for lounging or napping. Fully self-catering, this unit accommodates up to four guests, making it perfect for a small family or a group of friends.
The main bedroom boasts a comfy double bed, ensuring a restful stay for all.
Step outside onto the spacious balcony, where you’ll find a braai setup for grilling under the stars.
Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Heaven on Vaal!
We’re so excited to host you at our peaceful riverside retreat. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay, please take a moment to read through some important details about your visit.
Deposits & Refunds
Each unit requires a refundable Key & Breakages deposit of R500,00, except for our Lavender & Thatch units, which have a deposit of R700,00. Please note that no refunds will be issued if smoking has occurred inside the rooms.
No refunds due to bad weather for period booked.
Check-in & Check-out
Check-in: Between 14:00 and 18:00 (regretfully, no check-ins after 20:00).
Check-out: By 10:00.
Early arrival or late departure may be arranged (subject to availability) at R100 per hour for standard units and R200 per hour for Lavender & Thatch units.
Functions & Events
To maintain the peaceful atmosphere our guests love, any function—such as birthday celebrations—requires exclusive booking of the entire venue.
No sound systems allowed.
Quiet hours from 23:00.
Extra Guests
If space allows, we are happy to accommodate additional guests at the following rates per night:
Babies (0 – 2 years): Free
Children (2 – 6 years): R50,00 (bring your own bed & bedding)
Children (7 – 12 years): R175,00 (bring your own bed & bedding)
Guests (13 years & older): R275,00 (bring your own bed & bedding)
Booking Requirements
December & School Holidays: Minimum 3-night stay
Weekends: Minimum 2-night stay (long weekends may vary)
No check-ins or check-outs on December 25th or January 1st
Day Visitors & Activities
Day visitors are welcome, but please request approval before booking. If space allows, the following fees apply:
- R100 per car
- R50 per person
- Visitors must vacate by 17:00
We offer a variety of activities, including swimming in the pool, braai facilities, fishing, and boat trips. If you’d like to enjoy a boat ride, please arrange this when booking. (Swimming in the river is not allowed.)
If you’d like to launch a boat or wet bike, please request permission in advance and provide your COF & COC certificates. Pricing will be confirmed upon booking.
TV & Entertainment
No sound systems are allowed on the property to maintain the serenity of our retreat.
No TV’s in units. Time for bonding with family and friends.
Pet-Friendly Accommodation
We welcome pets! However, please contact Lynne before your stay to confirm the rules and costs. A signed Pet Policy and up-to-date vaccination records (including rabies) is required before check-in. All fees are donated to local Rescue Centres.
A Few Friendly Reminders
If you plan on night fishing, remember to bring your gas lamps!
The term “heartbeats” includes all guests—children and grandparents included.
To avoid disappointment, your booking is only secured once payment is made as per the confirmation details.
